Perfect Ingredients Challenge: Frameworks for the Sublime
WORKSHOP AT VIRGINIA COMMONWEALTH UNIVERSITY
I was invited by the VCU Graphic Design department to facilitate a 1-day workshop in Anthony Nguyen's The Meaning of (Graphic) Style class. Undergoing a novel thought process, the students began at 9am sharp with a "warm-up" pose that was defined by a 3-axis graph of Beverages, Fashion, and Music.
Each student would select an option along each axis which would then contort their body. Using their "pose" as a framework, they then wrote down a list of descriptors to further elaborate on their lifestyle stylistic preferences. The final step was to use the list of descriptors to inform the aesthetic they would execute onto a plain white t-shirt.
**sidenote: Red Bull (beverage) and Billie Eilish (music) were amongst two of the most popular axis options.
